Wrighty

Taking inspiration from legends like John Mayall, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Fleetwood Mac and more, I’ve loved playing music since I started as a bassist in the school group in 1972! I started writing, performing and recording blues music, with a bit of country thrown in, since 2006, both as a solo artist and as part of a number of bands. In recent years I’ve added saxophone playing to vocals, guitar and harmonica.

In 2006/7, I recorded Lonesome Road, an album of original blues & country which was well received and is still available – contact me for more information! On my new releases I have played all instruments, mixed and produced it all, which I love doing, and all the songs are my own. It should be noted here that I do all this for fun, I’m by no means a professional, but if I can raise money for charity by doing something I love, it’s a win-win situation.

As well as my solo music, I’m currently playing in two bands: Rocked For Six and G-Rocks, and I’m enjoying rehearsing with an as yet unnamed band – keep an eye out for updates on that one!

My current material is released under the name of Wrighty – all music is published by Tunecore and available on Spotify, YouTube, Radio Airplay, Jango music.

I also support 2 local charities, The Children’s Trust & Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, busking saxophone jazz locally on a Saturday morning (see photo!) with a bucket for cash, so please come along and enjoy some jazz to start your weekend!

Ian & Joan Wright are delighted to support Salisbury Racecourse, sponsoring the Fillies Novice Stakes on 14th June & also The Skytree Novice Stakes for 2-year-olds on Friday 11th September.
